Rena B Meyer is a fine art photographer based in Oakland, CA. She looks for beauty in the mundane and uses a variety of media to enhance the often painterly effect of her images.

Shot primarily on her travels through places like Turkey, Japan, Costa Rica and Europe, Rena is interested in color, texture and composition, more than the actual subject matter. Her work has an abstract quality that often makes viewers wonder what it is exactly they’re looking at. Questioning and elevating what is mostly overlooked is what motivates and delights Rena as she trains us to see the world through her eyes.

Born and raised in Germany, Rena B Meyer has a professional background in graphic design which informs her artwork in subtle and practical ways. She studied Visual Communication in Germany before coming to San Francisco on a Fulbright Scholarship and starting her own design studio.

Rena’s photographic work has been shown in solo and group shows since 2002, and is part of the documentary “FRESH Women” by Michael Whalen.
